I have seen The Flash, and though I did have issues with the film, it wasn’t that bad. There could have been better decisions on the cinematographer, the Flash’s suits, and the CGI. The story and acting were well done.
There will be spoilers! (And not on purpose.) YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
This movie took FOREVER to come out due to COVID, scheduling, Ezra Miller’s problems, and the Warner Brothers' administration change. I considered all the problems the film had to deal with, which led me to give the movie a rank of 7/10 with a ± 0.5. Now, the mixed views coming out from people are due to three reasons: 1) the Snyder cult, 2) the Gunn cult, and 3) the Miller problem.
Which do you think is at fault for the movie’s reviews? Comment below.
THE SNYDER CULT!
I am a big #restorethesnyderverse person because of two purposes: I want the Snyder idea to be complete (I'm not too fond of incomplete works, it irks me), and I like Ben Affleck as Batman as he reminds me a lot of the 90’s animated Batman.
I am not a radical Snyderverse person. If the film happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, I will only be irked, but I will not go insane and angry. It would just be awesome to see a story complete FINALLY. (This last sentence is to you, Warner Brothers & DC.)
Now, I am not saying radical Snyderverse are bad people. They are just VERY passionate about the film and the works of Snyder.
BUT, because someone else took the realm doesn’t automatically mean the new person is at fault. The Flash movie leaves an opening for Snyderverse to happen still. It did not kill the universe as it was believed. (SPOILER) If the people had stayed for the end credits, Barry mentions that all Arthers are Aquaman to Aquaman (hint of the Aquaman 2 that will be coming out), which means he traveled many timelines to find his own between the ending of the film to the end credits. This traveling addition explains when the Flashs meet on the CW Flash.
TO WARNER BROTHERS AND DC: THE OTHER FLASH OUTFIT WAS BETTER!
For those who are determined to see the Snyderverse continue, all because a film is done or completed under a new group doesn’t mean it will always be bad. In my observations, Gunn likes light-hearted comedy in his films and often overdoes it with jokes. For this reason, I don’t trust him to do well but fingers-crossed, he pulls off many projects.
So, to the so-called Snyder cult, enjoy the film and don’t let what has happened and what is happening blind you to what is good about the film.
THE GUNN CULT!
Yes, Gunn has done well in films. But so has Snyder. Their taste is different, and all because the difference is very apparent, don’t hate on those who are passionate. Let them have hope.
Not everyone likes or wants light-heartedness in films.
ALSO! Don’t be blind to this man’s faults.
He tweets things that have been proven false, and it is obvious he has an idea of how to run Warner Brother/DC film projects. This is where the issue starts. He has a chance to continue past projects or hand them to another studio (which is required to pay a fee for rights). This will not leave an open gap between his works and previous movies.
Thus why you have the #firejamesgunn.
For The Flash film, all because it was started with the previous team and with actors/actresses from the Snyderverse DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL SUCK. Neither does it mean it will be bad because it uses ideas of Snyderverse and may continue said verse if chosen to do so. For those who see the failure as Snyder’s fault, the film still had input from Gunn.
I wish Gunn does well because I am a big DC fan and have been disappointed with the comics. His ideas, though, recently in Marvel, leave me wanting. He needs to stop tweeting and put in the work. He should market when he has a plan, not just maybe’s or if. His input on the ending of The Flash shows he is unsure of his leadership.
Good luck James Gunn.
EZRA MILLER
This boy! I will not be using his preferred pronouns, and if this angers people, I will not apologize for it because I would not mean it.
He is lost and an idiot. His issues and problems affect the film because he has not been fired from the position as many actors have, who have also caused assault upon others. What is being forgotten is he has gender dysphoria. The studio would not want to look bad by firing a person with what is considered a mental disorder.
Those paying attention to his issues must learn how to separate his problems from his films. Until the studio gives him the yeet, he is still an excellent actor. Personally, if I had been in charge, it would have been more appropriate to have him replaced during The Flash to introduce a new Flash. This didn’t happen because he is a friend to Gunn, and Gunn like I previously mentioned, is making sure if his ideas don’t work, he can go back to the older projects if needed.
For those who call out the film because he is part of the lgtb+ community and paid for a Marvel film recently, you are hypocrites. You shouldn't use this argument if you paid for the recent Spiderverse film or others.
Admit you just don’t like the man, enjoy the film, and be fair on your assessment.
CONCLUSION
The movie was intriguing, with a well-written story, cast, and acting. The only issue was the CGI, which was supposedly done on purpose. Its work was not on purpose, and that is an obvious gaslight to pull away from the issues that were happening in the higher section of creativity. Do not let issues happening with Snyder, Gunn, and Miller cloud your judgment on the film.
